Plastic Surgery A Moral Standpoint - 1014 Words

Almost everyone you know knows someone who has had â€Å"work† done. Whether you agree with the decision or not, you assign a judgment as to why they had plastic surgery. There are numerous sources sharing statistics on plastic surgery, and surgery.org shares, â€Å"In the past year, plastic surgeons performed nearly 14 million cosmetic procedures with total surgeon fees exceeding $10 billion. †¦ The number of cosmetic procedures for women increased over 252% from 1997. The top five surgical procedures for women were: breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, and breast lift.† It raises the question, why are so many people turning to plastic surgery? The bigger question is does it matter why? We should not judge from a moral standpoint those who to choose to have plastic surgery, as there are many unseen factors which influence the decision. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have been taught our body is a temple. We have repeatedly been told to not get tattoos or do other things to our body to destroy our â€Å"temples.† Elder D. Todd Christofferson said in the October 2010 General Conference, â€Å"Acknowledging these truths and the direction of President Thomas S.
